 Betsy Abend is proud to be part of The Art of Placement, Inc.’s Design team. Betsy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Environmental Design from the acclaimed Parsons School of Design in New York City. She is professionally licensed as an Interior Designer in the state of Florida & California. She is also a member of the Hospitality Industry Association (HIA) along with the Florida chapter of Network of Women in Hospitality (NEWH.)
As a Project Designer with 20 years of experience, Betsy has worked with numerous design firms in the New York City, San Francisco, and Arizona markets and during her tenure as Senior Designer in these firms, several were nationally published! The Hotel Vintage Plaza is regularly touted in Travel & Leisure publications as a trend setting popular “Euro-Pacific” style hotel. As part of the Hochheiser-Elias Design Group, one of New York City’s most renowned hospitality design firms she was involved with the St. Regis Hotel, The Sheraton Centre Hotel & Towers, and the historic Sheraton Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Betsy also completed the $750,000.00 renovation of the main lobby, guest elevators, and guest floor corridors of the Handlery Hotel Union Square in San Francisco, along with the renovation of the Swim & Tennis Club of the Handlery Hotel in San Diego.
In New York City Ms. Abend was a member of the Design team at the established design firm: Creative Perspectives where she oversaw and ensured the design integrity for multiple high end design projects. Clients included public entertainment figures such as: Diane Carrol, Neil Sedaka, Liza Minelli, Diana Ross, and the New York Post columnist Liz Smith.
There’s a critical link between the Design team and the Purchasing Arm on any project. My experience in the coordination, implementation and installation of FF & E design packages will no doubt help to ensure a smooth process on all future projects. I am excited and look forward to exploring all the possibilities of setting new trends in the Design field here in the Florida Market as well as around the world! |
